This is the life you have; live it with hope, love, and balance.

08/06/18: Damn! That’ll leave a mark!

Thank goodness that’s over!!!!

10S Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

The new week opens upon a moment of realization; it didn’t work out as hoped.

THE GOOD NEWS: Nothing lasts forever, and that includes our challenges.

THE BAD NEWS: That won’t make you feel any better just this minute.

THE TAKEAWAY: Every new beginning is in some other beginning’s end. The process, though often uncomfortable (little bit of an understatement, perhaps), is both continuous as well as necessary. Do what you can to take it in stride.

REMINDER: No one dies from disappointment.

08/03-05/18 WEEKEND: It’s all you!

((The Spellcaster’s Tarot, Marquis and Murphy. ))

Karma. Knowing. Feeling.

Here we are! The first weekend of August, which also heralds the ending of the Summer. Back to School displays are up and sales are in full swing. If you have been spending your Summer as a Grasshopper, it is Ant time for sure!

Karma is calling! Justice represents a turning wheel – it’s even on the card! What goes around, comes around with or without our input (as we so often discuss when The Wheel of Fortune shows up!) but that is not the same as being a victim. You volunteered with every thought, word, and deeds you put in motion…Karma is a manifestation of your own wishes. Remember the old adage, “Be careful what you wish for as surely you will get it.” Well, here She is – on the scene with stuff to say! – and you will need to face whatever it is.

THE BAD NEWS: There is no escaping yourself.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can certainly handle it.

TAKEAWAY: Allow yourself to feel everything that comes your way.

Your weekend will likely be busy with errands as well as street faires, parties, barbeques, etc. Do yourself a big favor and do whatever you can to stay in the moment as you flow through your weekend; if you are with friends, do not think about the errands you should be running. When you are running errands, do not think about the next batch of errands for tomorrow. Just be in your moment as you do whatever the thing is. Recognize it really is all good, there are worse things than “busy,” and you can handle it.

Drink some lemonade. Eat some Strawberries. Sit in the grass. Jump in the pool.

Enjoy your weekend.

08/02/18: Take a break from distraction.

“You can’t do big things if you are distracted by small things.” Unknown

4C Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

We are headed into the weekend with a timely reminder: do not be de-railed by distraction.

DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND! Distractions have their place; there are times when we genuinely need to be pulled away from something, someone, some idea, that begins to turn obsessive. Distractions can be something mindless (fidget spinners) or something menial (folding laundry) or something creative (painting) or something nurturing (soak in a tub). Distractions are not necessarily a problem, and are often a welcome break.

Right up until they are a problem, causing their own set of troubles.

We are all well-aware both Heaven and Devil are in the details but ask yourself: Am I too distracted by details that do not matter?

  • Are there the same number of sugar packets as stevia packets? Unless you know how many of each you will exactly need – and really, how could you? – this is trivial. Put some of each out and move on.
  • Do the napkins match the plates? Use white, they go with everything. Move on.
  • Are all the books lined up evenly in the bookcase? If you want people to read them, this could not matter less. If you don’t want people to read them, glue them all together and never worry about it again.

If you seek out perfection down to the smallest detail, you will inevitably miss the beauty of the whole. Please do not do this. Please take a break from distractions and focus on the beauty and blessings in your life. Go forward today with an attitude of gratitude and appreciate the bounty of your life for surely you have many blessings others long to receive.

Enjoy your life – this is the only one you have.

08/01/18: A fresh start!

“New ideas, new beginnings, new clarity – it’s all good.”

Deborah Blake

AS Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

If there is a benefit to Mercury Retrograde, it is certainly this: the opportunity to review old information, and allow it to give us new ideas.

THE GOOD NEWS: New ideas may seem to be flooding in at an overwhelming rate.

THE BAD NEWS: New ideas may seem to be flooding in at an overwhelming rate.

TAKEAWAY: Welcome the new ideas; write them down, sort them out, make decisions about which ideas seem most likely to succeed – do NOT be in a hurry. MRx is good for new ideas but not so much enacting them in the moment. Gear up to rock it our after Mercury goes direct.

NOTE: MRx does not require you sit on your hands but it does advise you to use the utmost care (read three times, sign once, etc). Choose your battles wisely.

07/31/18: All things, great and small.

“You create your spiritual path every time you take a step.”

Deborah Blake

Hierophant Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

The most important aspect of The Hierophant; he’s really just a man.

((Just like Batman!))

Why is that important? Because the spiritual enlightenment he represents is available to,  and attainable by, each and every one of us. We can choose it with every breath and every step we take; compassion, mindfulness, and understanding there is something so much bigger, and we are all a part of it. Accept that, and the responsibility of your own role within it, and your spirit is as strong as The Hierophant.

This energy is a call to accept and step into your own power – whatever it may be – and lead, if only by example. The Hierophant requires no accolade. Break out your pixie dust because it is well past time to employ our faith and trust.

07/30/18: En garde!

“You’ll have to come right through me, there’s no way around it.”

The Pointer Sisters

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

THE GOOD NEWS: Our week opens with the serene confidence of The Queen of Swords. She is quietly fearless because she knows she is always armed and ready for whatever comes next – she is not ornamental, and neither is her sword.

THE BAD NEWS: People often confuse serenity with passivity or weakness – a critical error on their part – calling The Queen to action when she would rather have a cup of coffee in her quiet contemplation.

07/26-29/18 FULL MOON WEEKEND!!!

The Full Moon returns to us July 27, 2018 at 3:21 PM CST.

((The Spellcaster’s Tarot, Marquis and Murphy. Empress, Three of Wands, Page of Swords, Three of Cups, Six of Cups, Three of Pentacles. ))

The Thunder Moon of 2018 is not only in Aquarius (big opposition to Sun now in Leo!) it is also a Blood Moon, and a total Lunar Eclipse. TURBO CHARGED!!

Oh, and did I mention Mercury joins five other planets in retrograde?

Let’s start with a look at the July Full Moon; although it has many names, it is a Thunder Moon for sure in 2018. You don’t get thunder without lightning (even if you cannot see it) and we are well aware of all the ZAP! POW! KER-PLOOIE!! we have been witnessing as well as experiencing this Summer Season. This is a good time to think about the goals you have been moving towards since January, and where you want to find yourself as the year draws to a close – we are already past the half-way mark.

As Full Moon in Aquarius stares down Sun in Leo, we find our yin-yang in a Battle Royale; the energies are not swirling harmoniously, they are squared off to fight bent on winner take all…which is ridiculous but nonetheless how the energy feels. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! We are neither slaves no victims to this energy as we can control it within ourselves. DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT!!!! Engage the Rule of Five (will it matter in five days, weeks, etc.) before accepting an invitation to an argument, and know you have the right to decline. Additionally, if you feel inclined to give yourself a self-care time out and recede entirely, do it.

Despite the fairly raucous astro-weather in play, the cards above clearly preach a message of peace. Be calm, be aware, be grateful, be at ease, be happy, be safe, be well; do not allow the push-me-pull-you astro-energy to pull you off your pathway. You are in control right from the start (Empress) and three steps right down the center provide the clear passage through this intense energy; you do NOT have to dance to anyone else’s drum!

Speaking of dancing – Summer nights are absolutely meant for dancing in the moonlight! It’s such a fine and natural sight – when that moon is big and bright!

The Summer is wrapping up, and this 2018 Thunder Moon is the only one you will ever have; enjoy it with grace and gratitude.

08/26/18: WHOA!!!!

“Life may be pulling you in different directions but you get to choose.”

Deborah Blake

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

The Chariot tells us it is time to move on to a new locale; new home, new job, new city, whatever – time to move it along.

Many Chariot cards feature what appears to be a rider with no control of the vehicle. Personally, I believe the rider always has control of the vehicle (this is not The Tower!), even if it is not necessarily obvious to the viewer. That said, please note the confidence of the card above; she is NOT a rider, she is a driver – and so confident in her control, she only needs one hand! She knows where she is going because decisions have been made, and she is quite sure she will get there.

I absolutely canNOT stand it when people say, “I have no choice.” There is absolutely no such thing as no choice – there is always a choice! – you may not like any of the choices available, and some may be more untenable than others, but that is not “no choice.” Say what you actually mean, “I chose what I hated least.” AND OWN IT!!! You are responsible for absolutely EVERYthing you do, and claiming you had “no choice” absolves you of absolutely nothing. So buckle up, buttercup! We are here right now and we’ve got shit to do! NO ONE has time for any whining – and that certainly includes you!

RANT CONCLUDED!! *dismounts high-horse, climbs down from soapbox*

Take this Chariot energy and funnel it straight into your pathway pursuits; planning only takes you so far – at some point, actual movement is required. Also, please keep in mind this does not have to be a solitary journey – this is not the Six of Swords, partners welcome! If your partner wants to share this journey with you, be all means include them (if that works for you).

As always, Good Luck and Safe Travels!
