Happy memories are a wonderful thing – we may delight in the sharing of stories and sweet reminiscences – but we must always remember they are memories.

You are tempted to enfold yourself in rose-colored memories – maybe you are looking for a little respite from the intense work you have been doing – but you MUST NOT allow yourself to wallow in the past when there is so much going on right here, right now!

I have nothing against memories; all our experiences  and lessons are locked in our memories for recall as needed. In our daily lives, this is both practical and important:

• Green light means GO!
• Growling dog means stay away.
• If meat has turned green, do not eat it. 

But some memories take us to a place that isn’t real, a place we lovingly refer to as “TheGoodOldDays” or “WhenWeWereYoung” – glossy representations of happy families, clean cities, green parks, blue water, etc., etc., etc., – and every last bit of it, a beautiful lie we create for ourselves. Small moments of happiness around a bonfire become blown up into an entire summer (“Don’t you remember that summer by the lake?”)

We all need a happy place for the occasional  internal retreat so enjoy your happy memories but do not linger too long. It may be a lovely place to visit but cannot live there.

ARMED AND READY!!

There is plenty going on  – more than enough to keep everyone busy – and you are not sure which way to turn. Take heart! It doesn’t matter which way you turn, you’re ready!!

The Two of Swords has not been shy about letting us know we are armed and ready to meet whatever comes our way. That is a good thing because we often need reminding; we possess the tools of our own success if only we have the confidence to wield them. Some people have an aversion to conflict; unfortunately, conflict may sometimes be necessary to accomplish your goals.

Do not let fear make your decisions for you – you can do it!

Let’s talk tribe! 

Family is important – biological or logical – because at the end of the day, we are still primates and to greater and lesser degrees,  our ability to live, drive and survive depends upon it. If you are not born into a strong, healthy family, build your own tribe. Do not be afraid to make friends; start with strong common interests and build from there. 

You’re tribe is out there and waiting for you – look for them!

You have been working hard and success is visible – you can see the fruit ripening!! If you want to take a little bow, go right ahead. You earned it! 

While you may find the surprise of the naysayers unflattering, do not waste any of your precious resources (time, energy, engagement, etc.) on them. Success remains the best revenge – let them eat their hearts out! – and anyway, you have more important things to do. Nobody’s gonna break your stride!

Today, February 29th, 2016, is Leap Day; use it to take a flying leap at something (or someone) that interests you. You are flush with success and firing on all cylinders – there will not be a better time for you to go for it – so take a deep breath and leap!

The weekend has arrived – and not a moment too soon! We are tired of Winter, we are ready for Spring, and we can feel the sap beginning to rise – a little edgy, a little uneasy, and ready to blow off some steam.

Have fun with friends (or strangers); eat, drink, be merry – what are you saving it for?

You can’t take it with you!!

Looking for a new idea? This is the time!

The Full Moon on Monday was fabulous and she opened many channels for new thoughts and ideas – remember all of those projects you had left on back burners but now must attend? If new ideas are required, here is your opportunity.

Just as the sword depicted, truth is the original double-edged sword; it must be wielded carefully to avoid injury – literal or figurative, makes no difference.

When is it time to do nothing? When there is nothing to do.

I realize that sounds like a riddle you might hear at The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party but in fact, it makes a great deal of sense; sometimes, taking a break, doing nothing, and going back to the project (problem, puzzle, whatever) with fresh eyes, and perhaps a new perspective.

REMEMBER: When you are stuck and you do not know what to do, try something new. Much of the time, stopping to take a break, to sleep on it, to get a second wind, is exactly the nothing you need.
