03/17/16 And May The Best Woman (or Man) Win! Five of Wands

“A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right?” Barbara Moore

5W Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot. Moore and Fell))

Let’s face it – everyone wants to win. Winning is good, no question about it.

But at what cost, and to what end?

It is easy to get caught up in competition when a) we think we are in the right, b) our position is gaining ground, or c) people are agreeing with us. (None of which actually indicates we ARE right or have the best position – I’m talking to you, Donald!)

ASK YOURSELF: What am I fighting for? What will I win? What will yield the greatest good for the greatest number?

If you have any discomfort with any of your own answers, take a step back before you wade into the fray.

03/16/16 Round and Round, Again! The Wheel

“The dice are rattling. Snake eyes or lucky seven? Ah, that is the question. It is always the question.” Barbara Moore

Wheel Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Every game of chance has the same carrot (the possibility to win big!) and the same stick (the likelihood of the crushing loss). By our very human natures, we are happy to risk the stick because we always believe in the carrot.

THE GOOD NEWS: The Wheel is constantly turning.

THE BAD NEWS: The Wheel is constantly turning.

The real message is two part; things are always changing so live in the moment. Enjoy the good times because you know they will not last; learn what you can during the challenging times because you know they will not last, either.

03/15/16 Jump or Fall? The Tower

“If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.” Barbara Moore

Tower Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Just when you think it is safe to climb up a tree, ZAP!

MORAL OF THE STORY: DISASTER CAN FIND YOU ANYWHERE!

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Who says it’s a disaster? Just because it’s a complete loss – don’t be so dramatic!

(Just kidding! The Tower can be shocking and frightening in its sudden no-turning-back-sucker-punch delivery.)

While The Tower arrives unannounced, change is often in the air before it crash lands. Change is inevitable, and we are usually painfully aware of it; you may have avoided it for extended periods but eventually, it will happen with or without your complicity.

Wouldn’t you rather be on the decision-making committee? Jump or fall? It’s ultimately up to you.

GERONIMO!!

Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Each day, we make thousands of decisions – most of them meaningless – and we think nothing of it; we spend much of our daily life in an ‘autopilot’ routine, avoiding genuine decisions wherever possible. Unfortunately, genuine decisions – important, life-changing, decisions – do sometimes need to be made. We struggle mightily to make important decisions because we understand every decision has two parts: chosen and rejected – we choose the best available option, immediately forsaking the next best thing.

What if we make a mistake? What if we choose incorrectly?

What if? What if? What if?

LIGHTEN UP!!!

Try to remember most mistakes can be fixed, and decisions adapted, or  fine-tuned, as needed. The unknown is only as frightening as we allow it to be.

03/11/16 WEEKEND: Nine of Cups, Seven of Wands, Five of Wands

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

WORD FOR THE WEEK OF THE ECLIPSE: EMBATTLED

WORD FOR THE WEEKEND OF THE ECLIPSE: BESIEGED

The energy this week was powerful; too powerful for this Pisces, I fell sick almost immediately (after only a brief healthy stint from the last time in mid-January), as did several friends, co-workers, and my housemates. The high tides of the new moon-supermoon-solar eclipse endeavored to drown us all.

And the fun isn’t over yet!

This weekend promises to be the final (hopefully!) conflict of the eclipse; you would rather celebrate with family and friends, and enjoy the vitality and electricity you feel under your skin. Too bad for you because alas, no. Instead, you will have an opportunity to not only stand your ground but fight to keep it. On the upside, you are fortified by the eclipse energy.

Good luck with whatever comes your way.

March 2016 Super Dark Moon and Solar Eclipse

IMG_1154

((The Gilded Tarot, Marcheti and Moore))

How many events can the heavens have at one time? How many would you like? Among the many astral swirlings, we have Hecate’s Dark Moon, a Supermoon, and a Solar Eclipse. YOWZA!!

And you have been feeling the energy for days; a little keyed-up, a little adrift, a little focused, a little nervous, a little invincible. The tides are rising, the sap is rising, Spring is springing and no one is immune. That’s okay – we are all in this together, anyway!

Take advantage of this energy; use it to your advantage on projects, plans and travel you have been putting off – stop allowing anxiety to dictate your plans.

Finally, and with only a little sappiness on the my part, I leave you with this quote from Sally Owens.

03/07/16 Turning Ideas Into Actions: Knight of Swords

20130918_145826

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Had enough of the library? Ready to go on an adventure? The Knight of Swords certainly is so you had better be ready to take your plans on the road!

THE GOOD NEWS: You are ready to put your ideas and plans into action!

THE BAD NEWS: Actual action is now required.

You may feel some anxiety about moving forward, plagued with all of the usual “what if” thoughts that stagnate progress, but the time for talk is done. There is nothing left to it but to do it – win, lose or draw, the time to move is now.

Be brave – you’ve got this!

03/04/16 WEEKEND: Ace of Swords, Five of Pentacles, Ace of Wands

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

How will you be spending your weekend? Not sure? Let’s check the cards!

  • Ace of Swords: New ideas allowed to flourish (change perspective, change your life).
  • Five of Pentacles: Physical needs must be addressed right now (MAN OVERBOARD!).
  • Ace of Wands: Harnessing growing energy (a laser rather than a bomb).

Let’s put it all together: You have ideas, you are full of passions and you want TO DO things!!! Anything! Everything! Everyone!

OMG!!! IS IT SPRING YET!!!

CALM DOWN!!!!! As is always the case, we cannot afford everything we want. There are pressing, practical, mundane, worldly needs requiring your immediate attention: bills to pay, dog to the groomer, car in for service, to the dentist for a cleaning – ARGH!!! – no end to the life maintenance demanding your immediate attention, and getting in the way of your good time. Sigh…..

You can still use your awesome energy!

THE GOOD NEWS: You can channel the ideas and energy creatively; consider spending part of  this weekend making plans for another time. Plan a weekend getaway in early Spring.  Festivals, Faires, and Farmers Markets will be here before you know it – map out Summer day trip events for the upcoming season. Look into taking an art class at  a local studio, or check your local bookstore for lectures or author events going into Fall. Fill your future free time with new and interesting events, budget time and money for them, and you will have plenty to enjoy as the seasons progress.
