It is beyond time to move it along and make some decisions.

So many choices, so little time!

Overwhelmed by possibilities?

Suffering from analysis paralysis?

Tortured by FOMO?

GET OVER IT!!!

Your fears are manufactured by you – and what a waste of imagination!

Stop squandering yourself! Make an earnest decision, follow it through. Win or lose, you are worth this investment in yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Finding it difficult to shake off a negative feeling? Grab your broom, and start sweeping – start at the back door moving to the front, open the front door and sweep right out to the street! ((NOTE: If you live in an apartment, sweep over the threshold, clean up and dispose of the debris outside.)) As you sweep, visualize doubts and darkness disrupted for disposal; consider adding  the following chant:

01/06-08/17 WEEKEND: Did you ever have to make up your mind?

“…It’s not often easy, it’s not often kind…” John Sebastian

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Make a choice. Take your lumps. Get it together.

The weekend arrives not on cat’s feet but with a screeching halt; a shortened holiday week can make for a rocky transition.

Is it really 2017? Already? How did that happen?

As always, life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.

If you have been making plans or thinking about resolutions, it is time to make actual decisions; and since the only truth is action, it is also time to act upon those decisions. The sooner you get moving, the sooner you can integrate the changes into your life, establishing your own new normal. (NOTE: As you watch the current events unfold, please remember you are at liberty to choose your normal – please be sure to choose wisely.)

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Let your chakras be your guide! Make your choices with balance in line, visualizing your chakras in line and glowing as you do so; if any seem dim, or difficult to access, know that is the area needing your attention. If you need a power boost or wish to engage a trouble area, wear the appropriate color to assist strength and access. As always, be kind to yourself – it is a journey, not a destination.

“…not to make us sad but sober…” Barbara Moore

“Love is a many splendored thing.” lyrics Fain and Webster

“Love stinks.” lyrics Wolf and Justman

If you find your emotions running high, rest assured – it is not just you. Some feel exalted, some vulnerable, and others exhausted. We are plagued by doubts:

  • Does he love me?
  • Is she with someone else?
  • Why didn’t they invite me?

We are plagued with these doubts because we fear our love is not valued – we are not valued. For better or worse, King of Cups reminds us our feelings matter to us, and only to us. REMINDER: You are responsible for your own feelings, just as you are responsible for your own actions.

We must decide our own paths, our own relationships, how to spend our own energies. If you have been squandering your love on the wrong guy, you know it. If the sex is great but you don’t feel at peace, you know you are with the wrong woman. If you are headed in the wrong direction, you are plagued with doubts and difficulties because you need to change the path – that which resists, persists – and energy cannot lie.

Believe it or not, this is the gift of King of Cups; awareness and understanding, to make us sober rather than sad.  Build love within, spread love without.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Looking for love energy? Vanilla and rose quartz are your best friends: wear rose quartz around your neck, or carry it in your pocket, for a touchstone; burn vanilla candles and/or incense in your home to increase feelings of comfort and serenity (if you are comfortable and serene, love flows more freely). To add an extra bit of attraction, wear a quality perfume (or oil) with a vanilla base – it is subtly compelling (see above re comfort), and always appealing.

Time to stop biting your nails and wringing your hands; we are here now, and there is work to be done, but let us first take a brief pause in the action to acknowledge we would have liked things to go a different way.

But since things did not go our way, let us also acknowledge we have survived; it could have been worse, we are still here, and we can decide what to do next.

It does not matter what happened, how you were disappointed, what you regret – let it all go! Take this moment to release your grief and disappointment so you can move forward unencumbered. Declutter yourself emotionally and mentally, make room for better things!

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Need spiritual cleansing and healing? Surround yourself with lavender – soap, powder, pillow spray, sprigs in vases about the home, drink lavender tea – and take frequent  deep, cleansing breaths. Visualize your own energy being scrubbed clean with each inhale and exhale. Allow yourself to release anything weighing you down, relax your head, neck and shoulders. ((NOTE: Combine home yoga practice with lavender for extra umph! – just a few minutes, a few poses or stretches will work wonders!))

Places to go, things to do – are you paying attention????

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life!!!

(Too dramatic??? Let’s try again.)

WELCOME TO 2017 – IT PROMISES TO BE EXCITING!!!

(Admit it – that’s the absolute truth!!)

Unless you have taken The Hermit to the extreme and have only just returned from your desert island, you know big changes are afoot all over the world – the snow globe has been vigorously shaken for us all – and we must now face whatever happens next. REMINDER: You may not be responsible for what has happened but you are certainly responsible for how you choose to handle it.

What happens next is entirely up to you; you choose your own adventure here by the choices you make – left or right, up or down, positive or negative, hope or anger – it’s all you from here on out. CAUTION: Choose wisely; your decisions and behaviors affect more than just you – be mindful of your footprints.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Want to protect your home from negative energy? Mix equal parts sea salt, sage and rosemary in a jar; sprinkle the mixture around the outside of your home (while doing so, concentrate on the powerful shield you intend to put around your home – envision the white light barrier you will form), saying, “I banish all negative energy for the good of all and the harm of none. Blessed be all things.” (If you like, you may seal this with “Amen,” “Namaste,” etc. based on your belief.)

2016 DEC: Moon of Long (Cold) Night

IMG_7136.JPG

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

As 2016 winds down, it is a good time to take a personal inventory; if we are honest with ourselves, we have many blessings in our lives, and we should be grateful. It is also a good time to make decisions about 2017:

  • What do we want?
  • What will we pursue?
  • What will we forsake?
  • Where will we go?
  • How will we get there?

This particular Full Moon is custom made for decision making and reaffirming; consider a ritual to concert your efforts. I suggest the following:

Manifestation box: This is as creative a project as you would like it to be! Choose a box you like, decorate it as you want, fill it with whatever you desire. There is only one rule: everything you choose must support what you wish to manifest in the new year. Looking for love?Choose a small cedar box, decorate with wedding lace, fill it with hearts. ((NOTE: This example is intentionally cheeky; please consider seriously what/how you wish to manifest before you begin.))

Spell jar: This simple spell works on the same principle as the manifestation box. In an empty glass jar, place sea salt and rosemary on the bottom to keep your intentions clear and positive; add your desires to the jar* and seal with the usual lid. Keep the jar on a window sill that it might catch both sun and moon light as the days pass; add any new intentions during the Dark Moon, take an inventory and add gratitude during the Full Moon. ((*The desire may be recorded on paper(any color you like), or bay leaves.  You may like to burn the paper/leaves offering when as you find desires manifest throughout the year.))

Burn cedarwood and rosemary: You may do this anytime you feel your focus or intention waning over time. Allow yourself to meditate on your intentions as you take in the fragrance.

Vanilla dispel: If you are feeling anxious or off-center, light vanilla candles and allow yourself to be comforted by the scent. See your anxiety burning up and floating away from you.

ENJOY THE SEASON!!!

12/9-11/16 WEEKEND: Isn’t it lovely?!?!?

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Relationships. Nostalgia. Completion.

The Winter Holidays are upon us!

To name a few of the upcoming holidays:

  • Yule/Winter Solstice, 12/21
  • Christmas Eve, 12/24
  • Christmas Day, 12/25
  • Hannukkah, 12/25-1/1
  • Kwanza, 12/26-1/1
  • New Year’s Eve, 12/31
  • New Year’s Day, 01/01

If your holiday gears are not turning, they should be – do not miss out on the fun! Spend time with family and friends, enjoy long-standing traditions (or introduce new ones!), and share the joys of the season. You do not need to go overboard in this; a batch of fresh baked cookies shared with a neighbor, watching a favorite holiday movie with friends, give a candy cane to each co-worker. Sharing the joy with people you appreciate in your life need not be burdensome or expensive.

Find the joy in small things.
