Allons-y. Clarity. Hesitation.

Welcome to the weekend!

Your desire to move forward at a rapid pace has been stymied by a general murkiness.  The clarity you have been looking for is at hand; The Sun appears twice in two days, clearly illuminating the path before you. You think that would be a good thing…but alas, not helpful at this time. You can now see the pathway and choices all too clearly; the time to move is not actually at hand.

DAMN AND DRAT!!

Actually, it is not as bad as it sounds. You have been gearing up to move forward with your new year plans, and now you find yourself hesitating – not to worry! This is an opportunity to look at the road ahead, and make mindful travel decisions. It is not an opportunity to cancel the trip. 

Get up and go but watch your step!

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: I know it can be difficult during the winter months but it is important to spend 20 minutes of every day outside. The shining sun (even when you cannot see it) is important for energy, mood, focus, and clarity. If it is too cold where you are, just a few minutes at a time during the daylight hours will help. Step outside,  turn your face up and welcome the sun; feel your body absorbing the energy, thank the elements for the experience.

Have you noticed people feeling out of sorts? Are you spoiling for a fight? Do you feel edgy for no particular reason you can name? 

It’s not just you.

I do not need to tell you about the difficulty loose in the world; you are on the internet already, you cannot have missed it. Even if you “aren’t political” you are really feeling that everyday wear in the energy around you, and it is exhausting. 

“If you can’t play nice, don’t play at all.”

Do yourself a favor: do not give in to your lesser angels. Channel the energy constructively where you can, and where you cannot, absent yourself. ((NOTE: You may feel a strong desire to withdraw entirely – this is NOT The Hermit! Seek your equilibrium rather than total avoidance.))

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP:  Expecting guests? Worried about people getting along? Set a small table at your entryway with a white centerpiece (white flowers, white ribbon, white candle). Light the candle just before your guests are set to arrive, creating a positive energy screen and purifying the space. As your visitors arrive, their energy will be cleansed. Enjoy! (NOTE: For extra delight, serve vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and cream – vanilla creates feelings of comfort and strawberries encourage love.)

I LOVE THE MOON!!!!!

(Yes, I know you’re shocked but it’s true!)

I will never read this card in an unfavorable or sinister light.

The truth is, I favor the soft silvery light; it lacks the harshness of The Sun but is not as distant as The Star. Selene hangs full in the sky, big, bright, beautiful and smiling wryly upon us all. She knows things, and periodically, She reveals them to us in subtle ways – we must be open to receiving the messages.

Remember, energy cannot lie; pay attention to what you feel, notice when what you see does not match (mouth smiles but eyes do not), and follow your instincts – these are all gifts of The Moon.

Feel antsy? Unsettled? A bit edgy?

Of course you do! You have places to go, and things to do!

GET MOVING!! You are late for a very important date! 

No matter what you plan, there comes a point when you must get moving, start doing, make changes. New job? New home? New school? New city? Whatever it is you have been planning, it is time to get moving – pack the bags, load the car, buy the tickets, off you go!

NOTE: The Chariot indicates the timing may be right but that does not mean you feel all the get-up-and-go enthusiasm needed. It is okay to feel a bit out of sorts (or nervous) but it is not okay to let it stop you from moving your plans forward. Find your bravery if you need it – do not pass up this dynamic energy!

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Let cinnamon strengthen your personal stability, power and drive. Cinnamon sticks on your desk, ground cinnamon sachets under your pillow, cinnamon blended tea for breakfast; the scent and flavor will boost positive energy with feelings of comfort and warmth, building your internal fire, stimulating your root and sacral chakras. Need an extra boost in the moment? Chew cinnamon gum or suck on cinnamon hard candy.

Love. Togetherness. Rest.

Do not allow the outside world to impact your inner peace.

Spend the weekend with people you love, enjoy their company in small quiet ways, and appreciate all that you have in your life that is good. Be generous in counting your blessings, and sleep safely knowing your life is full as it is right now.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Strengthen love in your home; burn pink candles wherever you gather with loved ones (kitchen table, rec room, etc.). Light the candle and make a wish for peace and contentment. Be sure to say “thank you” when you blow out the flame.

Let’s not quibble when love is in the air!

BAD NEWS: Watch Rachel Maddow – she’ll tell you.

GOOD NEWS: The air is crackling with possibilities for positive connection!

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU FEEL! a chance encounter, a blind date, or a lunch with a long lost friend – everything has possibilities and you must remain open to them.

I know this is a difficult time for many as we watch the news and see disheartening images around the world as well as at home. Please remember good things will still happen; be open to them.

If you fear opening yourself to the energy of another, follow your feelings and adjust accordingly. Consider following this Magickal Tip courtesy White Witch Parlour:

Shoulder to the wheel! Nose to the grindstone! One foot in front of the other! Can’t stop now – places to go , things to do! A body in motion, and all that! 

Dropping over in exhaustion, spent and unable to move.

We forgot about the balance.

As we have been discussing, there is work to be done, and we are more than able to do it. HOWEVER, if we mean to accomplish anything meaningful, we must be sure to take care of ourselves. Do not neglect your self-care: eat clean foods, drink fresh water, get enough sleep, take time for yourself.

Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
