Have you read “The Velveteen Rabbit?” Love (true, real, deep love – and its intimacy)  makes you real but it also takes absolutely everything you’ve got. It is NOT passive. It is NOT clean. It is NOT easy. It is NOT seamless. It brings chaos. It brings work. It brings pain (all growth – physical and otherwise – brings some pain). It is a serious gamble with no guarantees of any kind, and much of the time it may not seem worth it. Do it anyway. Fight for an authentic life with all the trimmings: love, intimacy. lust, friendship, fellowship, partnership, and respect. 

REMINDER: If you prefer to settle into comfort and familiarity instead, that is your choice and there is nothing with it. But know this: you are no less susceptible to the energy around you. If you wish to resist it, self-care is the answer – take a hot shower, settle into a peaceful snuggle with your favorite tea, Netflix, or a book until the energy passes.
