Continuing on yesterday’s “smarter not harder” theme, today we have “disarm with charm” as our energy strategy. 

((OK, I know some of you are working up a sweat over this idea but hear me out!))

There will be times when brute force is required – this is not one of those times.

There will be times when strategy and planning are required – this is not one of those times.

There will be times when you need sugar rather than vinegar to attract what you need and/or want – this is on e of those times!

Let Venus be your guide; she does not fight with Mars, she calms him in spite of himself. Why? Because sometimes, we need a little softness – we really do not want to fight all of the time – we would rather spend the time and energy in other ways. ((NOTE: The sword she carries is not – I repeat, NOT! – ornamental. If she needs it, she will use it without hesitation.))

REMEMBER: kindness is always appropriate

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: In addition to its powerful prosperity draw (keep a leaf in your wallet!), did you know basil is a love herb? Eat it as often as you can, feed it generously to others, and allow it to grow within you the peace and contentedness we all need to open our hearts and share our love. Add tomatoes or strawberries for extra oomph! Enjoy!

While I would never suggest slacking off when there is work to be done, I would like to suggest the importance of strategic  planning – working smarter, not harder.

“Smart” often takes a hit in our popular culture, labeled as “elitist” or “afraid of hard work” when neither are inherently true. Critical thinking and strategic planning are necessary skills for everyone; the world is a complicated place, the ability to navigate pitfalls and obstacles as smoothly as possible are necessary skills for success. 

Think twice, act once.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Rosemary is a hard-working herb capable of heavy energy lifting! It serves and protects our minds, bodies, and spirits. Keep a rosemary plant by your door to keep negative energy fro entering your home; wear a spring in your hair to maintain focus and clarity; season your cooking fresh flavor and renewed vigor.

The high energy of late has made it difficult to resist crowds or  the pull to action but today, you must take a break from it all; keep your own counsel and evaluate what you must do next. The Aries energy will be gone in a few weeks, and you will still have much to do – drop back today, take time to create a plan for yourself.

Also, be sure to add self care to your To Do List; “busy” and “excited” are not valid excuses for not taking care of your own needs. REMEMBER, if you do not take care of yourself first, you cannot be useful to anyone else.

And after all, it is Monday.

REMINDER: YOU ARE YOUR OWN SOURCE OF POWER.

The cards have a simple message this weekend; you have the strength to do what needs to be done, to draw from your knowledge and experience, and carry yourself forward by sheer force of will. Set your mind to a task, and watch everyone get out of your way. (REMINDER: You may need to tell people to get out of the way but one look into your eyes, and they will know it is the best plan.)

Also this weekend: high sexually-charged energy! Have fun, be smart, play safe.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: When creative energy become sluggish, depression often creeps in, making creative energy harder to grasp, increasing depression, and round and round and round you go. When you feel creative energy elusive, peel an orange; keep the peels on your desk, allowing the strong scent to refresh your sense. If you feel you need something stronger, burn the orange peel with frankincense resin and sage leaves – your energy and mood will brighten, your creativity and motivation will increase.

By this time, you must be feeling the current state of Mars in Aries affairs (read more here, astroweather heat wave); you are heat-powered to go, go, go and do, do, do – channeling what might otherwise become aggression into getting jobs done!

THE BIG QUESTION:  I know I can but should I?

THE BIG ANSWER: Maybe not.

THE BIG REVEAL: Think before you act!

Just because you can (and you want to!) does not mean you should. This powerful Mars energy really spurs you on but it is not necessarily discriminating in where it finds satisfaction – that part is ENTIRELY up to you. This energy is powerful but it is also short-lived; spend it wisely on your goals and desires – your future will be better for it.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Set your intention to warm your home and hearth; burn a vanilla scented candle on top of your kitchen stove. This honors your home, your heart, and your Goddess. Love to all.

Decision, decisions, decisions! 

The Universe is all over us this week – Seven of Cups TWO DAYS IN A ROW! – time to make some serious decisions!

What have you been thinking through? What choices have been presenting themselves? What have you been avoiding?

• Moving?
• Changing jobs?
• Considering monogamy?
• Choosing a school? (A program? A major?)
• Buying a car?
• Joining a gym?
• Starting a hobby?

Whatever you have been mulling over, the time has come to make decisions.

THE GOOD NEWS: The current astroweather is all about doing – it’s a good time to make a decision and run with it!

THE BAD NEWS: There will be consequences – not all pleasant – and you will have no choice but handle them.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: Need a mood lift? Coriander is your lever! Put it in your salad, wear it behind your ear, keep a bundle in a vase on your desk.  This happy little herb lifts mood, inspires love, and helps you resist stress. Wear it, eat it, share it!

TWO OF CUPS!! Twice in two weeks – love is all around us!!

((Check the astro-weather; Venus is dancing around to her heart’s content, and she is taking us with her!))

When this Two makes its appearance, I cannot help but think of the many love songs that speak to the beginning of new love:

• Boy meets Girl.
• Boy is so blown away he doesn’t know what to do.
• Boy endeavors to convince Girl.
• Girl allows herself to be convinced.

This energy – new love, emotional possibilities, risk and reward – is swirling all around us; we cannot avoid it so we might as well make the most of it.

What will you do to maximize this energy?

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP:  Greet each day with a smile! Start out positive and grateful for the new day, and you will increase your positive energy and vibrations, which will boost  the energy and vibrations of those around you. Remember: energy is contagious – may as well spread positive.
