“And they lived happily ever after.” Barbara Moore

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

We start off the week, month and year with the best of all possible blessings; live happily ever after. It is yours if you want it; look within, make the decisions, do the work, become the best version of yourself. The higher you vibrate, the higher those around you will be forced to vibrate (or fall away from you), increasing positivity, and drawing increased positivity to you. Again, it’s yours if you want it.

REMINDER: Nothing lasts forever. Take advantage of opportunities to improve your life and appreciate every moment.

May 2018 find you happy, safe, and well, in the life you have chosen.

12/29-31/17 NEW YEAR WEEKEND

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Movement. Preparation. Disappointment. Regret.

What will you do with 2018?

Whatever your personal plans for improvement, be sure to have some flexibility in your approach; there is more than one way to do pretty much everything, so be patient with yourself. If your first plan is not as successful as you hoped, make some changes.

FIRST CAUTION:  Do not allow disappointments to become setbacks.

There will always be disappointments; sometimes, we can’t get what we want or what we need – and that tends to be a bitter pill – but we cannot allow the disappointment to derail our plans. Turns out he doesn’t love you? That is sad but better to know than to live a lie. You didn’t get the promotion you wanted? Maybe it’s time to move on to a new employer. Whatever the disappointment, accept the challenge and make the changes necessary.

SECOND CAUTION: There is no time for regret.

Regret is easily the most useless and destructive of all human emotions, serving no positive or practical purpose. What’s more, wallowing in regret is a self-indulgent waste of time and energy. DON’T DO IT!!

12/26-28/17 HOLIDAY WORK WEEK

(The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Evaluation. Stability. Commitment.

I hope this finds you warm, safe, and well, having enjoyed the holiday weekend.

Now that most of the hustle and bustle have passed, this is a good time to look within ourselves; take a serious inventory in preparation for 2018.

Of course, I can already  hear the resounding chorus,

“But Selene, I make resolutions every year but I never manage to keep any of them.”

Take heart, my darlings! This is not your mother’s advice column and I am no one’s  Dear Abby (google it!); we are not talking about old-fashioned New Year’s resolutions – we are talking about up-to-date mindfulness!

Let’s look to the cards:

This holiday week we are called upon to take a step back to not only evaluate our lives but to appreciate the many blessings; every experience brings potential challenges and learning experiencing – building blocks and paving stones for whatever we are building. What will we do with this information? We will decide how we want to move forward, and then commit to that plan of action. Commitment will be the key.

Commitment is always the key.

This week is an ideal time to take your personal inventory, make decisions about self-improvement, and create a plan to turn your decisions into practice. REMINDER: Size does not matter here! You can make small changes (i.e. my morning coffee will have two shots rather than three), or large changes (i.e. I will attend yoga class each day rather than twice a week), but any change you make should be manageable in your day to day life (affordable according to your current state of resources such as money, time, scheduling).

Fear of failure is its own reward.

The most important thing to remember is not – I repeat, NOT! – to think negatively. Do not expend any of your precious energy thinking of all the reasons you cannot make the changes. Do not speak your fears of failure out loud – do not give them the power of your voice. Know you are capable of making any change you feel necessary to improve your life; decide you want to do it, and move forward with it.

SETBACKS ARE NOT FAILURES! GUILT IS FOR SUCKERS!

If you have a setback (too many shots of espresso, missed yoga class), make the immediate decision to get right back to it on the next opportunity. Do not waste any time or energy feeling badly about your setback; it will not help and it will make moving forward more difficult.

Make 2018 your best year yet!!

12/22-25/17: Winter Holiday Weekend

“If you can’t be a good example, then you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.” Catherine Aird

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Relationships. Anxiety. Opportunity. Consequences.

Tarot cards can convey all manner of messages; this spread issues a warning:

DO NOT ALLOW HOLIDAY STRESS TO GET THE BEST OF YOU!!!

Seriously, if you are not careful this holiday weekend, you will be the horrible example for next year – DON’T DO IT!!!!! You are not obligated to attend every argument to which  you are invited – no matter how cordially it may be presented.

Decide to enjoy the holiday weekend; do not allow anyone – particularly yourself! – to pressure you into anything else. As is often said, it does not need to be perfect to be wonderful.

Enjoy every imperfectly fabulous minute!!

12/18-21/17: Week of Yule

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Abundance. Intuition. Success. Accomplishment.

Our Wheel is turning and Yule is nearly upon us – HUZZAH!!

Spend your time ENJOYING the company of family, friends, loved ones – maybe even friendly strangers – rather than finding fault; it doesn’t need to be perfect to be wonderful. Appreciate the joy in each moment – a popping cork, a fizzy sip of wine, a mouthful of spice cookie – with the full knowledge each one is uniquely your own.

Also, as The Wheel clicks into place this Yule, take time to appreciate all of the positive things in your life; count the blessings of 2017 – no matter how small – and thank The Universe for each one. If you are particularly grateful for someone in your life, TELL THEM SO!!! Sincerely, there is no time like the present – the longest night of the year provides ample time for looking to the stars with a genuine attitude of gratitude.

12/15-17/17 WEEKEND: HAVE FUN!!!

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Struggle. Nostalgia. Hope.

Welcome to the weekend!

As we speed towards the holidays on a runaway freight train, it is important to remember the following:

  • You are not responsible for single little thing; you are not alone, let people assist.
  • Do not get caught in the nostalgia trap; keep your favorite traditions but do not try to recreate the past – it cannot be done.
  • Allow your self to feel the hope and joy of the season; do not doubt there is magic in the air – allow it to fill you to the brim!

You have the power and strength to make this holiday season whatever you want it to be.

ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

Otherwise, there really is no point to any of it.

12/13/17: Do you smell smoke???

“If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.” Barbara Moore

tower-steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Like it or lump it, you can’t go home again.

The Tower arrives with an important holiday message; do not put too much pressure on the current holiday to live up to the memories of the past – it simply is not possible. First, you are not the same person (and neither is anyone else); second, chances are pretty good your memory isn’t real, anyway.

Give yourself – and everyone around you – a break by not imposing attachment and expectation to your holidays; simply enjoy them as they are with the people you love.

PRACTICAL MAGIC TIP: It is important to stay well-grounded so be sure to drink coffee, eat chocolate, drink wine, knead dough, and think of all the  things (great and small) for which you are grateful. You live here and now – appreciate every moment.

12/12/17: Hurry up and wait!

“…patience is not one of my virtues. Well, I don’t have any virtues…but if I did, I’m certain patience would not be one of them.”

Crowley, Supernatural

Hanged Man Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

MERCURY IS IN RETROGRADE; PATIENCE IS REQUIRED!!!

In all honesty, we would need to be patient in any event – it is the holiday season, and it can be difficult to maintain normal schedules and perspectives. To combat this seasonal fatigue, practice patience, mindfulness, and self-care:

  • Be as patient with others as you would like them to be with you.
  • If you wouldn’t like to hear it, don’t say it.
  • If you would not be comfortable explaining it to your grandmother, don’t do it.
  • Take a nap if you are tired.

And finally,

12/11/17: Walk the walk!

“Your every thought, word, and action expresses the truth o your soul.” Barbara Moore

Hierophant Steam

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

Good intention are not enough – they must be backed up by right actions equal to the intent. You may need some guidance; consider a course of study with someone experienced.

The Hierophant arrives with a simple message; knowledge is power, and it is available to you if you seek it. You are not required to wander in the wilderness – ask for the help you need

Start your week off on the right foot; if you need help, ask for it.
