2019 WEEK 4: OFF WE GO!

((Everyday Witch Tarot, Blake and Alba. Read left to right, top to bottom: Four of Wands, Ace of Cups, Eight of Swords, The Sun, The Star, Knight of Cups.))

Last week’s good-ideas-on-hold are this week’s “Ride ’em, cowboy!”

TAKEAWAY: Follow your passions, put your heart into it, take risks. Be fearless, not feckless.

With the appearance of both The Sun and The Star, our wishes canNOT wait to come true. If the Eight of Swords startles you, keep this in mind; you are in control of your thoughts, NOT the other way around.

2019 WEEK 3: Take a break! Take Two!

((Everyday Witch Tarot, Blake and Alba. Read top to bottom, left to right: Temperance, The Devil, Four of Swords, Ace of Swords, The Hierophant, Five of Swords.))

This week promises to try our patience as well as our resolve – do not fall for it!

Believe it or not, winning is not the most important goal this week; maintaining balance will be your priority – you will not “win” without it. Let’s take some of our images literally this week; yoga, meditation and rest are highly recommended.

While you are practicing yoga, meditation and resting, you may free some thoughts and ideas you may wish to pursue; do not be in hurry – consider journaling them for another time. The Five of Swords is a warning about timing; winning at this time would be a mixed blessing at best. Do yourself a favor; rest and nurture this week, make plans for another time.

With respect to New Year’s Resolutions, you may find them difficult to maintain this week as well, and that is okay. Do the best you can with what you’ve got and don’t be too hard on yourself – it won’t help. If you have an off day, or what may more commonly be refereed to as a “cheat day,” no problem – pauses are not failures – just start again the next day.

As always, be happy, safe, warm and well.

2019 WEEK 2: It takes a village.

((Everyday Witch Tarot, Blake and Alba. Left to right, top to bottom: The Hierophant, King of Pentacles, Four of Pentacles, Temperance, Two of Wands, Six of Wands.))

If you have been having a hard time getting into the new year groove (or perhaps extended the holiday through the disjointed week), no problem; this week is a perfect reset opportunity to launch the new beginning you have planned for the new year.

Do not allow yourself to be neutralized by doubts; a moment’s slip is easily recovered by getting right back to it. It is important to remember every day is an opportunity to start again. Anyone can have one bad day, or take a day off, or try something that does not work out as planned. Paraphrasing an adage, success is not measured in how may times you fall but rather how many times you get back up.

The cards above send a clear message; the time has come to draw from all quarters – it takes a village to raise anything that matters (i.e. children, resources, hope), and you are no exception. Marshal your forces; gather your intellect, spirituality, wisdom, and bring them into balance within yourself. How? The usual ways (diet, exercise, research, meditation, self-care, etc.) channeled into your projects and pathways for your own purpose. Use your gifts and abilities for you – no apologies, no explanations. With your best efforts put into moving forward to accomplish your goals, your level of success will be up to you. (Reminder: The sky may be the actual limit here – be creative, be smart, be careful.)

2019 WEEK 1: Setting the tone.

((Everyday Witch Tarot, Blake and Alba. Left to right, top to bottom: Strength, Seven of Pentacles, Nine of Swords, Two of Cups, The Magician, The Star.))

I hope everyone finds themselves warm, safe, happy and well in the new year; if you are not, may you find your way in 2019.

For a great many, January 1st marks a brand new start – projects, renewal dates, tax year – and as with all new starts, we should be looking back to where we have been; what worked, what challenged, what taught, what changed? We cannot dwell on the events and pathways of 2018 but we must know what to keep and what to let fall away as we move forward on our 2019 path.

While the spread above is to be read top to bottom, I choose to start this reading by  focusing on the final card. The Star tells the tale of this week: it is time to make your wish for 2019. Keep that in mind as we look at the supporting cards; the flow can be taken big picture, left to right, top to bottom for an overall picture but for more specific pieces, let’s look at  more interior line plays:

  • Strength – Two of Cups – The Star: Looking for Love? Start with bravery, welcome intimacy, follow your heart’s desire.
  • Nine of Swords – The Magician – The Star: Too many ideas? Sort them out and get to work – wishes require effort – and know you can make things happen!
  • Seven of Pentacles – Two of Cups – The Magician – The Star: There’s no stopping you in 2019! What do you want to grow? Your business? Your love? Your knowledge? Make your choices, create your plan, and get underway!

Looking at the big overall picture, this is your year to find your best voice, get things done, and make strides up your pathway. If you want it, if you truly wish for it, if you back it up with positive intention as well as appropriate action, you will likely find the pieces falling into place with astonishing regularity. As always, some bravery will be required.

REMINDER: Nothing written here is either a promise or a curse; what you make of this year and its energy is entirely up to you. Best of luck whatever you may decide.

*For those keeping the Celtic Wheel (and November 1st as your New Year’s Day), this is a good time to take inventory; are we nurturing the seeds we planted? Are we on the right track, or do we need to make changes? Are we satisfied with our relationships, or is it time to cut cords of attachment and be free (KEEP IN MIND: cords of love are always welcome, it is attachment and its expectation that need cutting when we are ready to face them).

2018: The end is near.

((Sun and Moon Tarot, Vanessa Decort))

Change. Choice. Faith.

We finish the year with a new hope for 2019: changes are on the horizon, we will have no choice but to choose, and have faith in ourselves as well as the the outcomes.

Some bravery will be required.

If you are taking this weekend to make decisions and future plans (also know as resolutions), write them down with as much detail as you can and make them real to your mind as well as your heart. This is the right time to make the very serious changes you have been toying with in 2018.

Get ready for greatness!

If you are unsure, unsteady, or just scared, set it aside. You are more ready than you realize, and more capable than you know. Remember, the worst day for the caterpillar is the very best day for the butterfly.

12/24/18: WELCOME!

((Sun and Moon Tarot, Vanessa Decort))

If you celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, they are about to kick-off with a high prevailing energy of welcome and success.

If you are not feeling it, make it so.

The holidays may be difficult for some of us but we cannot allow it to spoil our fun.  Enjoy the decorations, colors, flavors and fragrances of the season; I know what you’re thinking, “I’m tired of them already – they’ve been out since October!” (and while that may be true) but this is different. This is the time. This THE MOMENT.*

Also, and not to put too fine a point upon it,  these moments are not just about you – they are about everyone. Everyone is selling, serving, delivering, cooking, baking, buying, wrapping, and everything else. Be kind – to yourself and everyone else – by appreciating the effort as well as the intention.

*The Moment can be elusive to us when we are busy; we get distracted, we miss out on the moments, we don’t notice the small things – we let the joy slip away.
