We have all heard such expressions many times, and the message is always the same; you did what you could and it didn’t work out. Try again. And that is our message here.

This week opens with a double-header; The Lovers drawn for both Monday and Tuesday. As regular visitors know, I would normally use the The Steampunk Tarot for my daily readings but on this occasion, I found it too sedate for the message and reached for the more vivid (and to my mind in this case, the more telling) representation of The Gilded Tarot.
Last week, we hammered away at trusting ourselves, following our intuition, knowing our true selves, and honoring all of it. In that pursuit, the week opens with The Lovers as the final scene of the last act – following your heart. You have decisions to make and your heart must be your guide. Remember all the times in your life when you said, “My heart just wasn’t in it.”
The Lovers are here with this message: You must follow your heart to your happiness, success, love. Do not be afraid, you know you have everything you need – now do it.
Look deeply into your heart – what are your wants, longings, desires? What is your truth? It is not enough to speak it, you must also choose it and follow where it leads. You will never be more ready than you are right this minute.

Under normal circumstances, the cards above would lead me to report a weekend plagued by anxiety, struggle, too many battlefronts. Not this time, no siree bob. nope, nope, nope.
Looking back upon the week, we gathered reminders; look within, trust our power, do not squander precious personal energy. Here, I feel these cards are stretching the reminders into the weekend. Prepare yourself to embrace the thoughts frightening you (including the constant budget-balancing you do in your head at night when you should be sleeping!) and turn them into useful weapon: worried about money, review your budget for needed changes; worried about goals you have set, review the time-frame and flexibility of your plans.
The final card of the week, Eight of Wands, indicates the complete commitment to quick and decisive action. It is time to decide. Decide what you want. Decide where you are going. Decide your pathway. Then do it. Just do it.

The theme this week is pretty clear: you have the power within you – trust it, rely on it, use it. King of Wands shows up just in time to make sure you know you are ready to pursue your passions fearlessly, which is awesome.
HOWEVER, trusting your gut and following your passion are NOT the same as fighting every battle you are invited to attend. You have nothing to prove to anyone; do not allow yourself to be goaded – do not squander your precious energy by scattering it.

Our Knight of Swords arrives fast on the heels of High Priestess, reinforcing her message; thinking and planning will only take you so far – you will need to trust your instincts.

She is at once brilliant and beautiful, mysterious and mischievous. She arrives unannounced and without explanation. Don’t bother to ask her, she’ll only smile – but she won’t look away. And that is your cue.
The High Priestess delivers messages intuitively; she reminds you to feel your way to the answer rather than pondering and puzzling it to death. If this frustrates you, is not her fault; you have lost touch with your inner well of wisdom (probably the result of too much screen time) and she has arrived to remind you to get right back to it – and NOW!
You have been taught there is nothing more important than thinking (and critical thinking is best) and you have learned to evaluate and solve problem using evidence presented and understood (a valuable skill to be sure) but you need to remember your instincts. Trust that knot in your stomach, the hairs on the back of your neck, the little voice in your head; do not be so quick to dismiss what you cannot immediately explain or understand – your higher self knows.
