07/14/16 Let’s get out of here! Eight of Cups

“Time to move on, time to get going. What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing. Under my feet, the grass is growing. Time to move on, time to get going.” Tom Petty

Are you out of sorts:

  • Feeling stuck?
  • Don’t feel motivated?
  • Can’t seem to gain any traction?

You are not imagining it – you are out of position and it is a problem for you.

If you were content to be still, accomplish nothing, change nothing, and float through your life, it would be fine. But alas, you want to move forward, make changes, DO THINGS!!

What have we learned from yesterday’s Hanged Man? The patient reflection and change of perspective likely pointed you in a direction “up the road a piece.” Time to move forward, no more dawdling. If you were waiting for a sign, here it is.

OFF YOU GO!!

“So, what have you been up to?”

“Just hanging around.”

Our friend above reminds us of two important things: first, do what you can to see the other side; second, take your time about it.

Balance is difficult to come by; if we wish to improve, we must start by seeking some balance in our lives, thoughts, and behaviors – this process cannot be rushed. We must be cautious as well as patient. We must allow our intuition to guide our thoughts, to reveal what we have overlooked, to show each of us”the way” we seek to best tread our pathways.

BE PATIENT

Okay, this battle is lost – not for lack of effort on your part – and it is time to pack up the tent and go home. Take some time to lick your wounds before you set off again; there will be plenty of other battles before you know it, and you will need your energy.

REMINDER: We learn more in failure than we do in victory.

Do not allow your disappointment to distract you from the lessons you have learned during this experience as you will surely need them for the next campaign.

BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!!

Preparations are only useful if your timing is also right – remember, we are going forward working smart rather than hard – so we must be patient, keeping an eye on the landscape for the best opportunity. Trust your preparations as well as your intuition, and you will know the right moment when it presents itself.

PATIENCE, GRASSHOPPER!

07/08-10/16 WEEKEND: Two of Pentacles, Ten of Swords, Eight of Cups

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

THE WEEKEND ROLLS AROUND AGAIN!!!

The short week has been a heartbreaking roller-coaster and we welcome the chance to take a breath, however brief it may be. Have a seat, put your feet up for a few minutes and slowly sip your tea – peppermint or chamomile, your preference – but do not get overly comfortable. Once the tea is done, you must stand up, roll up your sleeves and get to work.

DON’T PANIC!!

Do not let the cards frighten you; it looks worse than it is. We have been working very hard – struggling really – to maintain balance in all areas, and largely failing rather miserably (unbalanced budgets, nerves worn thin, physical and emotional exhaustion, resistance low). Gratefully, we are moving away from “I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!” and into “I GIVE! Well, that sucked. So glad it’s over.” and that is good because we can move on to new things. We know we went about it all wrong, working hard rather than smart. Since that did not work despite our best efforts, we will take a brief rest and start again, with renewed purpose, renewed vigor and an entirely new plan – we learned along the way and now we are ready to apply it.

If you notice others are following your example, be gracious as you stay the course of your own path, and be grateful for every step you are able to take (literally and figuratively) remembering it is not true for everyone.

07/07/16 How shall your garden grow? Ace of Pentacles

“How does it feel to hold the potential of the world in your hand?” Barbara Moore

AP STEAM

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell))

On the heels of July’s Dark Moon, we have the seeds of success in the palms of our hands – where shall your beanstalk lead?

GOOD NEWS: You get to decide what/where/how to plant!!

BAD NEWS:  Be careful! What you plant will certainly grow; make sure it is what you want.

It is okay to be excited about new projects but do not confuse enthusiasm with effort. There is much work to be done so get ready to roll up your sleeves, maybe get your hands dirty, and decide for yourself how your garden will grow.

Feel free to dream big!

The Seven Planets Spread

This looks awesome – check it out!

Jack of Wands's avatarJack Chanek

For complicated reasons involving the amount of sunlight in my apartment and the fact that I worked on the Fourth of July (ugh), I was not able to take pictures for my promised deck review this week. The deck is sitting, unopened, in its box on my bedroom floor, and I promise, I’ll share it with you soon, but this week I am unable to do so. And I’m out of town next week, so, you know, probably not then, either. Whoops.

Anyways…

The following is a spread for people who like astrology. In classical astrology, there are seven “planets” (orbiting celestial bodies, in contrast with the relatively fixed state of the stars), all of which are visible with the naked eye.* They are:

-Luna (the Moon)
-Mercury
-Venus
-Sol (the Sun)
-Mars
-Jupiter
-Saturn

(You can see why I put the word “planets” in scare-quotes; the Sun and Moon…

((The Steampunk Tarot, Moore and Fell.))

This card has been appearing rather frequently this year and the message if clear:

LIVE IN THE MOMENT WITH GRATITUDE! GRATITUDE! GRATITUDE!

We are each blessed in different ways at different times, and we are all well aware The Wheel never stops turning; if we are not living in the moment with gratitude, we are missing joyful opportunities – a loss indeed. To paraphrase many smart people before me, life is in fact what happens while making other plans – do try not to miss it.

THANK YOU
