OK! The World woke up to President Elect Trump – a rabbit out of a hat if ever there was such a thing. The US government has gone Red for 2017 which likely means another recession by the time we get to the other side. It is The Dawn of The Era of The Frat Boy.
So what happens to the rest of us????????
NO HAND WRINGING!! Roll up your sleeves and make your own magic happen. No, really. We are not victims, we can work hard to impact the mid-terms (I think we all know what it looks like when House and Senate do not work with POTUS), and our daily lives must continue with grace. The lessons of First Family Obama boil down to this: haters hate, do not be one of them – rise above and let them choke on their own bile.

It’s a tense day here in The States – Presidential Election Day – and while many are tired of the politics, plenty of people will want to fight to the bitter end. Our card above reminds us – don’t bother fighting. Cast your vote, the chips fall as they may. there is no reason to fight or argue. The level of debate has fallen to witch hunts, name calling, and outright verifiable lies; no one is listening, learning is impossible, and what should have been an intelligent and articulate exchange of ideas and strategy has disintegrated to sound bytes and phony Facebook quotes. There is nothing to win.
Let us agree to disagree, and move along to the business of day to day living and raising families and supporting our communities, etc.

While this Knight is often impractical for the long haul, she is a none-to-subtle reminder we must commit to the moment because life is what happens while we are busy making other plans. Not every moment is enjoyable but that does not mean we should ignore or gloss over the more unpleasant ones; they are learning, growing experiences and we need to take them as such – they are NOT meant for energy drains such as self-pity, guilt, or regret, so avoid those negative emotions when dealing with them. However, you might consider enjoying a cup of tea and cookie while you digest the lessons. 🙂

The unfortunate consequence of strength is the lack of support that often follows; people can see you are handling whatever, and presume you do not need or want assistance. As a result, we are often on our own and have no choice but to do all the stuff, think about all the stuff, plan all the stuff, and generally, make ourselves crazy about all the stuff. Unfortunately, we grow to think absolutely everything must be our responsibility, and this simply is not true. Take a good look at the landscape for opportunities to delegate and deputize; e.g. children over twelve can do their own laundry and Peapod can deliver groceries.
Lighten up a little bit, give yourself a break here and there, and enjoy the life you work so hard to build and maintain.

TODAY’S TAKEAWAY: It is okay to be impractical sometimes.
Chicago Cubs fans enjoy their first World Series victory since 1908. They will be celebrating for days, and for many this will include overwhelming emotion and tears of joy. From a practical standpoint, we know baseball is just a game – it does not mean much (or anything at all, really) in the bigger picture – but for right now, millions of people celebrate triumph at the end of a long wait. The elation of winning will not endure, and so we enjoy as much as we can in the moment.
