“Don’t look back – you aren’t going that way.” Unknown
When Madame Lucy Zolonga said, “The word for 2016 is unhinged,” she was not kidding – no way, no how. Doors have been falling off all over the place. By this point in the year, we have all experienced this on some level. To be fair, it has not been all bad. For some of us, what looked like entropy was really just a challenge to inertia; long-awaited new beginnings, tired of waiting for us to “be ready,” forced their way to the front of the line. Transition – birth, growth, death – tend to be painful, and many of us have faced serious challenges; we are all works in progress.
The reality of our current discomfort tends to make us nostalgic – we long for homes we have never had, clinging to memories we have rose-tinted, mourning the losses of what-might-have-been as if it had actually been stolen from you. The Six of Cups has two important jobs here:
- Keep the lessons of the past close to your heart. Every experience taught you something, and that information is important to keep on hand (if it wasn’t, it would not have happened – that’s how The Universe works).
- Do not cling to the past; it cannot follow you into the future, and it compromises the lessons (and laughter) of today.
And as always, live and love out loud. You cannot grow if you keep it to yourself.
